Youth Group November 4
The following is from Father Greg's E-Pistle and I think we should talk about this on Sunday at Youth Group. Please read what Father Greg has written and bring with you to Youth Group a picture or some other representation of your saint as a way of remembering and honoring those who have gone before us and have shaped our lives. We will talk about them at Youth Group.
It would be nice to know who is going to be there, so please leave a message or email me at aeljones@gmail.com.
Thanks!!
From Father Greg:
At our Tuesday morning Eucharist, it is our custom to reflect on the life of a person who is recognized by the Episcopal Church as a "saint." These people are include in the book "Lesser Feasts and Fasts." I find it helpful to consider the ways that people before us offered leadership in the church and how they represented Christ in and to the world. They truly are saints of God.
Each of us can think of people who are saints to us who are not and never will be included in the church calendar for special recognition. They are the people through whom God has spoken to us as we have traveled our spiritual journey. They are God's gift to us, God's way of giving God's love, God's way of leading us on the path set for us.
All Saints' Day, which we will observe tonight at 6:30 and on Sunday morning, is our opportunity to celebrate the saints of our lives. I encourage you to bring a picture or some other representation of your saint as a way of remembering and honoring those who have gone before us and have shaped our lives. We will place a table at the front of the church where you can place your representation. We will offer a special prayer of thanksgiving. You can retrieve your representation after communion.
Happy All Saints' to all of you. Thank God that God love us so much that we receive the gift of saints to accompany us on our journeys through this life!
